Soon thousands of bicyclists will be making their way from the Nebraska and Iowa state line to the Illinois and Iowa State line on RAGBRAI, including a stop in Perry Monday July 22nd.

With more than three times the normal population of Perry coming to visit overnight, things will undoubtedly run a little different.

Assistant Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn encourages residents to make plans ahead of time.  He says if you can walk or ride your bike that day, that’s probably your best bet and will cause the least amount of headaches or all.

And if you do have to drive, Vaughn encourages trying to get to the highway as quickly as possible because that’s where you’ll find the most traffic control.

The left northbound lane of 1st Street will be closed during RAGBRAI, along with Willis Avenue from 1st to 9th Street and streets around Pattee Park.  A full map can be found at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
