Greene County and South Central Calhoun meet in non-conference baseball in Jefferson tonight in a game that can be heard on KG98 around 7:30 p.m. with coverage beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m. The Rams and Titans are playing for the first time in baseball and the contest at Allensworth Field pits two teams that hope to be playing their best baseball as the postseason is getting closer.

SCC is 14-7 overall and is a Twin Lakes Conference member. The Titans have won five of their last six games and they rely heavily on pitching and defense. The latest online statistics show SCC with just eight errors all season, and a team earned run average of barely over two runs per game.

The Rams are 10-13 overall and are coming off a 2-1 upset victory in Jefferson on Wednesday night vs. Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rival Gilbert (15-10). The Rams went 2-0 this season vs. the Tigers and sophomore pitcher Riah Nelsen threw complete games twice. The right hander had 10 strikeouts on Wednesday night to up his total to 24 in the two meetings with Gilbert. He issued no walks in either game and the Tigers mustered just five hits and one run against Nelsen and the Rams in the two defeats.
