Greene County improved to 11-13 on the high school baseball season with a non-conference victory on Friday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams won 8-1 over South Central Calhoun to drop the Titans to 14-8 on the season. Sophomore pitcher Colton Fitzpatrick went the distance and struck out 12 batters while allowed only two hits. He walked five.

The Rams had eight hits from seven different players. Senior Alex Gordon doubled, singled, drove in a run, and scored twice while junior T. J. Lint singled in a run and knocked in a second with a SAC fly. Sophomore Riah Nelsen had a run scoring single with senior Matt Paulsen batting in a run with a SAC fly. Senior Tory Beger was on base four times. He singled once and had one RBI.

Losing pitcher Nathan Christensen had two singles for both SCC hits.

The Titans scored in the first inning while Greene County had three runs in the third and five int he fourth.

The Rams are at home today for JV/varsity make up baseball vs. Perry starting at 2 p.m. at Allensworth Field. Shawn Kenney will provide play-by-play of the varsity game on KDLS 1310 AM.
