The Greene County Rams open Class 3A Region 2 softball tournament play tonight vs. South Central Calhoun on KG98 at the City diamond on East Lincolnway. The Rams are 25-9 on the season and they tied for first place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. SCC is 0-20 on the season and the Titans lost in regular season play in Jefferson on July 5 when the Rams needed just three innings to win by the 12-run rule, 12-0.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s team needs one more victory to tie the 26-8 team of a season ago for the most wins in a single season by a Jefferson-based softball program. Coverage on KG98 begins at 6:30 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
The SCC/Greene County winners moves on to the Region 2 semifinals in Wall Lake on Friday, July 12 at 7 p.m. to face either OA-BCIG (Ida Grove) or East Sac County.
