The high school softball season for the Greene County Rams ended on Friday night in Wall Lake at the hands of OABCIG (Ida Grove). The Falcons were 5-4 winners in nine innings in a game that saw numerous errors and lost opportunities for both teams. The game ended with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and runners at second and third when a softly hit bouncer went to third baseman Mady Adamson. She threw home to catcher Marissa Promes with OABCIG catcher Cheyenne Wilcke sliding toward the plate. The safe sign was given by the home plate umpire and the Falcons upset the number 13 Rams. OABCIG (20-12) advances to the Monday night Class 3A Region 2 final vs. number one rated Sergeant Bluff-Luton (31-3) while the Rams end their season at 26-10.

OABCIG had five runs on seven hits, three errors, and they left 12 on base. Greene County had four runs on 12 hits with four errors and eight left on. The Rams would have left more on base, but they hit into a double play and had two other runners thrown out on the bases.

Losing pitcher Jennifer Kennedy had 10 strikeouts to go with four walks. She hit two batters with pitches including Wilcke to start the ninth. Winning pitcher Ciara Dotzler had four strikeouts, three walks, and she did not hit a batter.

OABCIG scored a run in the first, two in the third, one in the seventh, and one in the ninth. The Rams had a run in the second, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth.
