Class 3A eighth ranked Glenwood won the battle of Rams Monday night in Creston over Greene County in high school baseball. Glenwood’s 7-2 District 15 title game victory improved them to 27-8 and put them into Thursday’s Substate 8 final vs. Harlan. Greene County ended the season with a 15-18 record.

Glenwood led 1-0 after one inning and increased the lead to 5-0 in the second on the strength of a two-out grand slam home run by winning pitcher Tyler Jensen, the leadoff hitter. Two more Glenwood runs in the fourth made it a 7-0 game.

Greene County scored its two runs in the top of the seventh inning with two outs on a Tory Beger double off the fence in left that scored Alex Gordon and Colton Fitzpatrick, who both singled. Gordon had three singles to account for half the Greene County hits.

Glenwood scored all seven runs off losing pitcher Colton Fitzpatrick, but just two runs were earned. The sophomore allowed five hits. Reed Ostrander pitched three innings of scoreless relief and allowed two hits.

Greene County had three errors while Glenwood was charged with one error.

Beger, Gordon, Ostrander, and Matt Paulsen are the seniors on the Greene County team. The win total is the highest its been in the last few years.
