ADMThe ADM Tigers were denied its third straight trip to Des Moines as Boone came back to beat ADM, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 4-3.

After ADM took an initial 3-0 lead after two innings, both starting pitchers were like warriors on the mound.  Tiger senior Dylan Nelson put the Toreadores away in order the third through the fifth innings while Boone’s starter Ryan Sunstrom retired ADM’s bats in order in the third, fourth and sixth innings and faced just four batters in the fifth and seventh innings.

The fireworks for Boone came in the bottom of the seventh.  ADM was up 3-0 when an infield error, an infield hit and another fielding error loaded up the bases for the first time all game for Boone.  Then Nelson came back and struck out the next two Toreadores.  Down to their last out of the season, Boone’s number nine batter, Sunstrom worked a full-count, two out walk which scored a run making it 3-1.

Boone’s leadoff man Dylan McDowell blasted a double past a diving Jordan Grove in centerfield for a bases-clearing walk-off double to win the game 4-3.

ADM had three runs with three hits and stranding four runners with two errors.  Boone had four runs off six hits while leaving three runners on base and committing three errors.

Nelson finished his last game in an ADM uniform going seven innings in the loss and allowed six hits, two earned runs, one walk and struck out ten for a total of 101 strikeouts for the season.

ADM ends its season with a school record 29 wins and 9 losses while Boone avoids getting beat by the Tigers for a third time this season and moves on to the Class 3A state tournament set to start next week with its 23-10 record.
