North Polk (Alleman) and Roland-Story (Story City) will represent the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference on July 29 at the Class 2A quarterfinals of the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Baseball Tournament in Des Moines. The Comets are 29-4 and the number two seed. Coach Dave Middleton’s North Polk team won the HOIAC title at 16-2 and the first opponent for the Comets is number seven seed Albia (24-16) on Monday at 8 p.m. R-S finished fourth in league play and the Norsemen (27-13) are the five seed. They play Monday at 12 p.m. vs. fourth seeded Mount Vernon (26-14). Kuemper Catholic (28-6) from the Hawkeye 10 Conference plays in the 2A quarterfinals on Monday at 6 p.m. vs. Spirit Lake (16-10).

Greene County lost twice to NP, split two games with R-S, and lost its only meeting with Kuemper.
