You may have noticed several utility construction vehicles along Highway 141 east of Perry lately, what crews are doing is installing new fiber optic data connections.

White Construction out of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin broke ground on the Minburn Communications project yesterday.

“We have some fiber facilities that feed both our Minburn and Woodward exchange so we’re going to be tying into that and coming up (Highway) 169 and across (Highway) 141 into Perry on Willis and then taking the fiber to the business district and to the new building we purchased that we’ll be putting our electronic equipment in and also our hopefully, down the road, future retail location” says General Manager Debra Lucht.

Lucht says the main thing residents will notice over the next couple months is many construction vehicles. But she says it will be all worth it because Minburn Communications will be able to expand their service area and Perry business owners will have access to a faster internet connection.

“We’re really excited to be a part of this community.  We’ve been working with Butch at the City for a couple of years to formalize a game plan and it’s really exciting to see it finally come to a start” adds Lucht.

City Administrator Butch Niebuhr agrees this is an exciting advancement in Perry.

“It should help not only on our residential areas, but really helping the business.  Businesses today are using that internet for everything they do so speed is of utmost importance to them so we’re really looking forward to this” says Niebuhr.

Lucht says the project should be completed in October and they plan to have to lines fully operational by November 1stphoto (55)photo (56)
