The Iowa Girls Coaches Association 2013 All-District softball teams were announced on Thursday and Greene County is well represented. The Rams have two players and their coach on the Class 3A Central team. Senior pitcher Jennifer Kennedy and sophomore catcher Marissa Promes were named to the 16-player all-district team while the Rams’ head coach Tom Kennedy was named District Coach of the Year. The Rams were 26-10 in 2013 and they tied for the first place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Tom Kennedy has been the head coach for seven years and has compiled a 146-90 career mark. His last two teams have been a combined 52-18 and shared HOIAC titles.

Jennifer Kennedy went 17-7 as a pitcher this season with a 1.73 earned run averaged. She batted .333 from the lead off position with 15 runs batted in and she went 19 for 20 in stolen base attempts. Kennedy, a five-year starter for the Rams, struck out just five times in 141 at-bats. Promes led the Rams with a .419 batting average. She drove in 30 runs and had a home run and 12 doubles. She struck out just nine times in 129 at-bats and was also 9-3 as a pitcher with a 1.97 ERA.
