The first day of Greene County football camp was Monday in Jefferson at the high school and head coach Dean Lansman tells Raccoon Valley Radio some 125 youngsters from grades three all the way up to high school seniors attended. Grades 7-12 went from 8 until 11 a.m. while the third through sixth graders were from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. The same schedule will be kept today and Wednesday, which is the final day of the three-day camp.

Coach Lansman said the kids and coaches both had an enjoyable first day. “It was fun being out there with everyone,” said the head coach. “Summer goes fast and it’s time for football already. Our older kids worked on plays from one of our offensive sets while the younger ones learned some of the fundamentals of football.”

The camp is non-contact and is conducted by Lansman and the other coaches on the Rams’ staff. They include paid high school coaches Kevin Paulsen, Chris Stimson, Bryce Martin, Tony Beger, and Ronnie Pollock. High school volunteer coaches are Richard Beeler, Mark Renslow, and Greg Ruth. There are five middle school coaches and all are paid. They are Kevin Bresnahan, Kelly Dellegardelle, Justin Guiter, Dustin Larson, and Doug Whipple.
