Two Greene County softball players have been named to All-State teams by the Iowa Girls Athletic Coaches Association. Senior Jennifer Kennedy and sophomore Marissa Promes were named to the  66 player IGACA team in Class 3A. Kennedy was named a first team all-state player while Promes was named to the second all-state team. The two are first cousins. Kennedy is the daughter of head coach Tom Kennedy while Promes is a niece of the head coach.

Kennedy was the top pitcher for Greene County the past two seasons and both 2012 and ’13 resulted in the Rams tying for first place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. This edition of the Rams went 13-5 in the league and the team was 26-10 overall. Promes was the catcher and number two pitcher and Kennedy caught when Promes pitched. Both girls had earned run averages of under two runs per game and both were instrumental defensively and on offense. Kennedy batted .333 as the leadoff hitter and scored 35 runs while driving in 15. She had seven doubles and two triples as a left handed slap hitter and went 19 for 20 in stolen base attempts. Kennedy had just five strikeouts in 141 official at-bats. She was a second team all-state selection in 2012. Promes led the Rams in batting average with season at .419 with a home run, 12 doubles, and 30 RBI. Promes struck out only nine times 129 official at-bats.

Coach Kennedy is 144-92 in his seven seasons heading the softball program. His last two teams have been a combined 52-18. He was named 3A Central District Coach of the Year.
