ADMThe Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association announced its All-State Series rosters and one ADM Tiger graces the list.

Senior Kyle Herrick was selected to the only utility position on the Small Schools West team.  There are four pitchers, two catchers, five infield, four outfield and one utility player.

He joins a list with other players from several other schools including Harlan and Carroll Kuemper Catholic.

ADM head coach Jason Books says Herrick was nominated by him and selected by head coach Will Azinger of Logan Magnolia and the coaching staff of the Small Schools West team.

He talks about Herrick’s hard work ethic has allowed him to succeed in the last couple of years in baseball and a great end to a fantastic career.

“He’s not blessed with a boatload of natural ability.  What he has, he has worked for every single day.  It’s really a remarkable thing and how good he is on the field.  He makes his share of mistakes like everybody does, he works hard to overcome them.  And it’s going to be a lot of fun watching him develop and play through college baseball.”

According to IHSBCA records, ADM’s first selection to the all-star series was in 1978 as Adel with Tom Hopewell and the first time as Adel-DeSoto-Minburn was in 2002 with Justin Zeiler.

Herrick will continue his baseball career when he attends Marshalltown Community College this fall.

Games will be played from August 8-11 at both Principal Park in Des Moines and West Des Moines Valley High School.
