Thursday, August 8th

A deputy was dispatched to the 1200 block of B Avenue for a reported burglary and theft of farm implement parts. The theft is under investigation by the sheriff’s office at this time.

A deputy was advised of a harassment complaint that a Paton resident received by phone.  The deputy is investigating the caller ID on that phone line.

A deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway near Highway 25 north of Bayard in Greene County. The deputy was unable to locate the cattle upon his arrival.

A deputy was asked to help settle a personal property dispute between cohabiting persons in Scranton.

A deputy investigated the reported theft of a vehicle from Boone County that may be located in Greene County. The theft was later determined by the deputy to be a civil matter between two youth that had traded ownership of a motorcycle for a pickup truck.

A deputy was asked to investigate a harassment complaint in Grand Junction.

A deputy while on routine patrol in Grand Junction was informed by the parents of a juvenile female that she was thought to have run away from home.  The young female was later reported by her parents to have returned home on her own accord.

Friday, August 9th

A deputy while on routine patrol checked an unoccupied vehicle on 220th Street and Eaton Avenue. The vehicle had sustained a flat tire and would be removed the next day.

A deputy was dispatched to Scranton for the reported theft of a metal yard statue. The statue is of a kneeling soldier over a cross with the initials “ES” on the foot. The theft is under investigation by the sheriff’s office at this time.

A deputy is investigating the theft of a bicycle from the 700 block of Railroad Street East in  Grand Junction.

A deputy was unable to locate a reported erratic and careless driver entering Greene County from Carroll County on Highway 30.

A deputy was advised of criminal mischief that was caused by a renter that had moved from a residence in the 500 block of East Rebecca Street in  Grand Junction. The home owner and the deputy discussed the proper course of action to be taken by the owner.

A deputy was dispatched to a one vehicle rollover accident that was reported on Quest Avenue and 315th Street. A 1997 Chevrolet Lumina that was being driven by Erica Marie Smith of Rippey was northbound on Quest Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times into the west ditch. Smith and a passenger and the owner of the vehicle, Brandon Michael  Mitchell of Jefferson were not injured. The vehicle was estimated to be a total loss and Erica Smith was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.

A deputy helped negotiate a family civil dispute in the 200 block of M Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched to 167th Street and C Avenue for a reported one vehicle rollover accident. Churdan Fire and Rescue and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel were also dispatched to the scene.  A 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that is owned by Keenan Charles Bock of Coon Rapids and was being driven by Jacoby Brian Winters of Bayard failed to make the left turn from 167th Street onto C Avenue. The vehicle preceded into the east ditch and then into a farm field sticking a large rock causing the vehicle to roll several times ejecting Winters from the vehicle. Winters reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the rollover. Winters and Bock were both transported to the Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation and then released. The accident investigation later revealed that a second vehicle at the scene that was being driven by Clay Michael Blass of Coon Rapids and owned by Jamie Michael Pudenz of Carroll was being pursued by the Bock vehicle and due to the dust from the gravel road Keenan Bock was unaware that the road curved to the north.  Other passengers in the Pudenz vehicle were Caleb Jordan Oswald of Coon Rapids and Trevin Jerome Jorgensen of Carroll. All six youth were administered a Portable Breath Test and will be charged with a Minor in Possession of Alcohol. The Pontiac Grand Am was estimated to be a total loss. Churdan Automotive removed the vehicle to the impound lot in Jefferson.

Saturday, August 10th

A deputy was advised of a custody dispute in Scranton. The dispute was later resolved by the parents.

A deputy was advised of an abandoned E-911 call that had originated on 130th Street near M Avenue. The resident at that location was later contacted and he indicated that he was having problems with his phone and that everything was in order.

A deputy was asked to check on the welfare of a child that was camping with his parents at Spring Lake Park. The child was found to be safe and no further action was needed.

A deputy was advised of a vehicle parked at the end of the runway at the Jefferson Airport. The vehicle owner told the deputy that he and his two nephews were watching planes land and takeoff. The deputy advised the owner that this was not the safest place to observe the planes and asked that the car be moved.

Sunday, August 11th

A deputy was advised of a single vehicle accident that occurred on I Avenue at 170th Street. A 2005 Dodge Stratus that is owned and was being driven by Krista Elisabeth McCarter of Lake City left the roadway and entered the ditch. The vehicle sustained minor damage but Krista McCarter was subsequently arrested for OWI 1st offense and failure to maintain control. McCarter was not injured in the accident and Churdan Towing removed the car.

A deputy was advised that Jenny Gustoff of Scranton reported her vehicle stolen during the night. Deputies found the car at the Brown Bridge Raccoon River Access on Eaton Avenue at 200th Street. The vehicle is reported to be a total loss and the theft is under investigation at this time.

Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center for a female prisoner that was experiencing an anxiety attack. The female was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation and later returned.

A deputy was advised of several motorcycles that were operating at a fast speed in Churdan. The deputy spoke with all of the bike owners and they assured him that there would not be any further problems.

A deputy helped two Scranton residents come to a mutual agreement after a verbal altercation.

A deputy was advised of a controlled burn near Seven Hills Park that had gotten out of hand and the landowner was asking for the Jefferson Fire Department to assist in extinguishing the flames. The deputy provided traffic control due to the dense smoke.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
