Veteran head volleyball coach Donna Carhill officially started her 33rd season on Monday heading an Iowa High School volleyball team. She is one of only a few volleyball coaches in this state to have three different programs play in State tournaments. She has taken Scranton, Carroll High, and Jefferson-Scranton to the State tournament over the years and still has a passion and fire for the sport. She talked about the 2013 Rams. We had 26 at our first practice with about five girls missing, so we’ll be able to field freshmen, JV, and varsity teams quite easily. Our numbers are good.

The Rams have graduated some good players from last season’s team, but Coach Carhill said the cupboard isn’t bare. “We actually have quite a few players returning with varsity experience.” She added, “We lost significant positions from the players that graduated, but we have plenty coming back.” Coach Carhill said the early practices are being spent implementing some new defensive schemes and learning some new ways to train.
