The ADM football team is preparing for the upcoming season after a successful campaign last year.

At the end of the regular season, the Tigers scored the most points in Class 3A District 1 with 288 but finished in second place with a 4-2 district record and a 6-3 overall record.  They started the season undefeated at 5-0 with wins against non-district opponents in Dallas Center-Grimes and Winterset along with victories at Glenwood and Creston and beat Lewis Central at home.

But ADM hit a skid and lost three of their last four games of the regular season and limped into the playoffs where they lost in the first round to Spencer 48-19.

With some work to be done on the offensive end, losing the starting quarterback in Kyle Herrick, top three tailbacks with a nearly 2,000 yard season in Jordan Grove and three of the top five receivers, head coach Mike Wishner will look to other players to step up.

Tiger Athletic Director Doug Gee says there will be about 80 young men out for football this season and he expects last year’s returners to provide leadership.

“Football is coming off two really successful seasons and I would expect them to continue to do that.  They’ve got a lot of kids back and they lost some good kids but I would expect them to take over.”

The Tigers first game of the 2013 season will be at home against the Mustangs of Dallas-Center Grimes on Friday, August 30th.
