New Greene County High School boys’ basketball coach Jeramie Hinote took advantage of the summer months to get better acquainted with his players and their abilities on the hard court. The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio what they did this summer for basketball. “We were in a Sunday league in Ankeny and got in two varsity and two JV games every week against some good competition. Some of the teams we played were Dallas Center-Grimes, Ballard (Huxley), Nevada, and North Polk (Alleman). We also went to five varsity team camps and three JV team camps. That’s in addition to our individual camp we held here early in the summer, so we got quite a bit of basketball in.”

Hinote has coached freshmen boys in Jefferson the past two years and he’s a former girls’ basketball head coach at Southern Cal (Lake City). Doug Meinecke returns as the JV coach and Tom Kennedy moves back to being freshman boys’ coach after having spent recent seasons as the JV girls’ basketball coach.
