Greene County High School cross-country coach Kelly Simpson is happy with the performances his runners turned in on Tuesday at the Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational, and now the Rams are preparing for their only home meet of the season. The girls were third among 14 squads and the boys were fifteenth among 17 teams at DC-G. Coach Simpson commented, “After having the August 29 meet at Ames cancelled because of the extremely hot and humid conditions, the kids were anxious to have a meet. We had been practicing early in the morning or late at night, so Tuesday was the first time they had run in late afternoon conditions and I thought they handled the heat and the atmosphere very well. There were some very good teams there and we saw a number of 3A schools and thought we competed well, especially the girls.”

The Sept. 12 Greene County Invitational will be held on the grounds of the high school in Jefferson with middle school races starting at 4:30 p.m. High school competition begins at 5 p.m.
