The Greene County Rams came up short on the scoreboard on Friday night in non-district play vs. North Polk (Alleman), but not in one very important area, according to head coach Dean Lansman. “I was very pleased with our overall intensity on Friday night,” he said. The coach added, “We had way too many penalties (11) and we still had two turnovers, one that went for a touchdown, but the focus we had was much better than in our first game. Our defense gave up three touchdowns, but that was a lot better than we did against Perry, and we forced more punts. We’re getting better, but with just two seniors starting on offense and four on defense, it’s a constant learning situation. We learned from that first loss, and we’ll learn from this one, too.”

The Rams host Shenandoah at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at Linduska Field with coverage on KG98 starting at 6 p.m. The game is the Class 2A District 8 opener for both teams. Greene County is 0-2 while the Mustangs are 1-1 following a 24-7 win at home vs. Class 1A Treynor last Friday night.
