cyhawkThe tailgating party leading up to the Iowa and Iowa State football game this Saturday starts today in Jefferson.

Everyone is invited to show your spirit in downtown Jefferson today when WHO-TV’s Channel 13 comes to town for RVTV.  The Greene County Chamber has several activities planned for the event from 4-10pm.

At 4pm the farmer’s market will begin with Genesis Development serving a light dinner along with the Greene County Cattlemen serving hamburgers and ribeye steak sandwiches.

Then a t 4:30pm there will be inflatables, face painting, mini golf, FFA booth and you can cast your kernel of who will win the Hawkeye/Cyclone game on Saturday.

At 5pm is the first live broadcast from the Bell Tower Plaza where the public can gather in the background of the newscast.  Following that at 5:30pm will be fitness activities for everyone like tire rolling.

At 6pm is another live broadcast and then from 6:30-7:15pm, the Town and Country Band will perform and there will be hands on activities from The Jefferson Field House.  From 8-8:45pm will be a county-wide pep rally followed by Iowa and Iowa State competition games leading up to the final live broadcast at 10pm.

Director of Greene County Chamber and Development Ken Paxton says its a great opportunity for the county to be on display.

“We do have an awful lot of things to offer.  We have a beautiful, historic downtown square and a wide range of activities and it gives us a chance to showcase our town.  What a beautiful downtown we have.”

A reminder that Lincoln Way between Wilson and Chestnut streets will be closed from 12:30-10:30pm for RVTV.
