The Greene County High School volleyball team was finally going to get to open the 2013 season on Tuesday after four weeks of practicing without playing a match that counted in the standings. That was until an electrical transformer blew in Baxter, the site where CMB was to have hosted the Rams. After the electrical incident, school officials called off the match, meaning the Rams still have opened the season while some teams have played a dozen matches or more.

Coach Donna Carhill’s team will try again on Thursday, Sept. 12 in the middle school gym in Jefferson vs. Colfax-Mingo in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match. The ninth grade and JV teams play at 5 p.m. with the varsity squads to follow.
