It can be difficult to find the positives following a loss as difficult as the one suffered on Friday night by the Greene County football team, but head coach Dean Lansman continues to look on the bright side. The Mustangs scored on a 63-yard pass play with 15 seconds left to win 19-15 at Linduska Field to send the Rams to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in Class 2A District 8. “This was a difficult loss, but our kids left everything they had out on the field. We fell behind with 4:20 to go in the game and put together a scoring drive to take the lead back with 1:08 left. That was a 59-yard drive on nine plays set up by a good kickoff return, and that drive showed us coaches a lot. We just came up a play or two short for the second week in a row, but with a young team like we have, we made progress. We’re getting better. We were 0-3 last year as well and went on to finish third in our district, so we still have a lot of opportunities in front of us.”

The Rams are at Red Oak on Friday night. The Tigers (1-2, 1-0) opened district  play with a 20-7 win in Ida Grove over OA-BCIG, taking advantage of five turnovers by the Falcons. Coverage Friday night on KG98 starts at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
