ADM’s cross country teams put forth a good showing at the Ballard Invitational Monday night.

The Ballard meet is one of the biggest invitationals in the state, with over 1,700 runners competing across all classes.   Both ADM’s girls and boys varsity teams ran in Class B of the Ballard race.  ADM

The girls finished in 6th place overall out of eight teams in their class, and were anchored by sophomores Brianna Mueller and Erin Person.  Mueller posted a time of 16:24 to finish 8th overall.  Person wasn’t too far behind, placing 15th with time of 17:06.

Over on the boys side, the Tigers finished 7th out out 10 teams in their class.  Senior Josh Berger led the way for ADM, earning a 6th place finish with a time of 17:44. Berger’s time was nearly a personal record according to head coach David Zwank.

Zwank says the Ballard meet was a great experience for his team.

“We had just beautiful weather.  Again, I think they ran really well.  Historically for me, Ballard’s not been a meet that I’ve walked away from where I felt like our kids always have performed year in, year out.  Whereas this year, definitely walking away times were good for our kids as far as where we’re at, and I’ve got no complaints based on that.  They’re putting out best efforts right now which is part of what you look for out of each day.  Everyday can kind of vary and change based on conditions and the course and everything else, but if we just give what we got, that’s the most we can ask for.”

Both cross country teams will be back in action next Monday for their home invitational at Hillcrest Country Club.  The competition begins at 4:30.
