droughtThe entire Raccoon River Valley area, and much of Iowa, may be experiencing the same general drought conditions but the amount of rain received lately differs greatly.

According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor by the National Climatic Data Center, we’re all still experiencing severe drought conditions.

The National Weather Service data shows Guthrie Center has received 2.4 inches of rain so far this month, while Perry has had just under an inch and Jefferson has only seen three-quarters of an inch of rain.

Normal September precipitation levels for the area range from 2.9 to 3.3 inches.

There’s no rain or storms in the current forecast.
