Today marks the start of Homecoming festivities for three high schools in Guthrie County.

West Central Valley, Panorama and Guthrie Center High School students will be in full-on celebration mode all week as they enjoy one of their biggest weeks of the year.

At Panorama High School, students will participate in Around the World Day on Thursday.  Kids are asked to dress in their best attire from a different country or culture.  Panorama’s big Iron Woman Football game is on Friday at 2:15.  Those interested in participating must pre-register in the school’s front office.

Over in Guthrie Center, there are events throughout the week, but Friday’s Homecoming Parade is the main attraction.  The parade will begin around 2:30 at Hometown Foods and proceed three blocks east to the Guthrie County Courthouse for the pep rally, where the school’s King and Queen will be announced.

West Central Valley is celebrating Homecoming in a new fashion this year.   Rather than a week of continual events, Friday alone will be filled with activities like “West Central Valley’s Got Talent” and of course, the powderpuff football game.

Student Council Advisor Tricia Oltmanns says this is the first year the high school is replacing a regular class day with activities on the Friday before Homecoming.
