dnrAs the fall hunting season draws closer, many people are gearing up for it.

Before you go out and hunt, Iowa Department of Natural Resources Officer for Greene and Carroll counties Dan Pauley has some safety reminder tips for people to follow.

He says you should always treat every gun as if it is loaded and always point it in a safe direction.  Pauley comments that if you’re out hunting, be aware of other hunters around you at all times and make sure you have permission to hunt on private property.

He suggests that anyone who needs to know about hunting regulations can get information from the county recorder’s office as well as purchasing a hunting license which everyone needs to have when out hunting.

One of the first official kickoffs to the fall hunting season is on October 1st with archery.
