The Roland-Story Norsemen Cross-County Invitational in Story City on Thursday saw the Greene County girls finish second as a team and Ram senior Allison Higgins was the individual champion. Perry won the boys’ team title with Greene County ninth.

Greene County was second to South Hamilton (Jewell) in the girls’ team race 40-62. R-S was third with 84, followed by Nevada 101, West Central Valley (Stuart) 123, Bondurant-Farrar 145, Madrid 177, Saydel (Des Moines) 197, Perry 244, Gilbert JV 263, and Colo-Nesco 304.

Higgins ran the four kilometers (2.48 miles) in 15:50.33, more than nine seconds faster than second place finisher Kayla Lucas of So. Hamilton. The other four point scorers for the Rams were freshman Olivia Hansen, ninth in 16:50.02; junior Emily Christensen, seventeenth in 17:19.70; junior Eme Johnson, nineteenth in 17:25.94, and junior Noelle Gray, twentieth in 17:35.45.

The Greene County boys were led by Landon Braun. The junior was twenty fifth for five kilometers (3.1 mile) in 19:03.63. Junior Kevin Montoya was thirty fourth in 19:34.98, with junior Logan Egeland fifty second in 20:17.27, junior Tim Eischeid fifty third in 20:18.38, and senior Jake Challen sixty eighth in 21:14.66.

The Perry boys had 54 points with Nevada at 64, Saydel 97, B-F 131, SH 145, Ogden 187, R-S 191, Gilbert JV 202, Greene County 228, Woodward Academy 248, C-N 267, WCV 281, and Madrid 336.
