ADMADM’s boys and girls cross country runners are in the midst of what head coach David Zwank calls the “peak” of the teams’ training season.

The Tigers had their most difficult practice of the season last Thursday following their home invitational.  Zwank says his teams will utilize the rigor of Thursday’s practice to build up miles and mindset in the next couple weeks before the conference and district meets.

“What they’ll see is ‘hey, you know what–I can push through those tough times, I can run at a speed and maintain it consistently and I can handle myself when I’m not feeling the best in the final two-thirds of the race’.”

Zwank says he is happy with how his runners have performed to this point in the season but hopes these next few practices will allow them to improve their times during this stretch run.

Both the girls and boys teams will begin to taper off with the miles they log during the middle of next week with the conference meet set for Monday, October 14th.

The boys and girls will be back in action this Thursday for an invitational at Perry High School.
