Two vehicles were involved in a crash on Interstate 80 in Dallas County recently.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 41 year-old Mark Williams of Greeley Colorado was heading eastbound on I-80 midday September 19th.  As Williams’s semi-truck approached a work zone at mile marker 111, he stated that a pickup truck cut him off as he tried to merge left and avoid the closed right lane.  Williams was forced to rapidly decelerate and was then rear-ended by 42 year-old Thomas Billington of Earlham who said he didn’t have enough time to brake and avoid the collision.

Dallas County EMS responded to the accident and checked on Williams who reported no injuries. Williams’s passenger, Wonda Seavy and Billington both escaped the crash uninjured.

In total, damages from the crash are estimated at $6,500.  No citations were issued as a results since the driver of the pickup that allegedly cut off Williams did not stop to verify with officers.
