National 4-H Week is October 6th-12th.

Greene County Extension Youth and Families Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says the county 4-H’ers will have a kickoff event on Sunday.

The Greenbrier 4-H Club will be releasing balloons to start National 4-H Week at the extension office in Jefferson at 4pm.

Also during National 4-H Week, Reynolds notes that each of the ten active 4-H groups will be painting store front windows in each community in the county and there are contests for the kids to participate in.

She explains one type of contest that starts next week.

“Be sure to wear your 4-H t-shirt.  I will be visiting all the different schools here in Greene County.  So if I see you in your 4-H green, you’re going to get your name in for a prize and may even get a prize that day.  It just kind of depends.”

Reynolds adds that 4-H members can “like” the extension’s facebook page and be entered into other drawings for prizes.

She invites the public to the free balloon releasing event on Sunday at 4pm at the extension office.
