Panora City Hall Back in February, a Panora couple submitted an application to the Ellen DeGeneres Show to be part of a home remodel through the HGTV show Cousins Undercover.  Sam and Cassie Wendl had a leaky roof that needed fixing.

Their house ended up being selected by Ellen for a surprise renovation, and the couple has been out in California all week while HGTV crews have worked tirelessly to refurbish the first floor of their home.

Panora Area Development Group President Brandon Monoghan says he’s proud of the many volunteers and contractors from the local community that came out to help HGTV’s crew with the remodel this week.

Monoghan says the overall support for the project from people in Panora has been fantastic, and not all that surprising.

“I’ve been here for five years so I haven’t seen it all here, but I would think this is one of the most unique experiences that Panora’s had.  Like anything with Panora, the town gets behind something and wants to help and that’s always been a good thing.”

The Wendl’s returned to Panora yesterday evening and their welcome home and first-floor reveal was filmed by officials from the Ellen Show.

The taping of their welcome home will be shown at 4pm today on NBC.
