The Churdan Public Library and the Paton-Churdan Schools are once again teaming up for another Healthiest State Walk Initiative tomorrow.

Youth Services Director Marilyn Tilley says this is the third year that the library has joined with the school to provide a one-kilometer walk as part of the governor’s plan to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation by 2016.

She explains how this event involves the whole community.

“The adults enjoy walking with the kids and vice versa.  It’s a good chance for many generations to get together and do this.  Parents like to get involved as well as grandparents.  And a lot of people in the community don’t get a chance to see the kids that often with them being in school so it’s always a nice chance for everybody to walk together.”

The walk will start at the high school parking lot around 10am and participants will circle around the library and back to the school building.  Last year, Tilley points out that there were about 200 people and she expects the same if not more this year.

At the end of the walk, everyone will be treated with free refreshments sponsored by Communities 4 Children and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children neighborhood/Community Network Mini Grants.
