volleyballADM’s volleyball squad knocked off Bondurant-Farrar on the road Tuesday night to capture the Raccoon River Conference championship, giving head coach Mary Beth Scott her first conference crown in what is now her seventh season.

Scott says Monday’s grueling, five-set win ranks right up there as one of the best victories in her coaching career.

“It was such a pleasure to be there, to be a part of it.  I’ve been talking with some people and I’ve gotten some great emails.  It was just a total team effort–there was not one single player of mine that went out and dominated the entire game–it was a collective group of 12 girls working towards a goal, and that’s what was so nice.  Nobody got upset, nobody got frustrated, everybody stayed calm and collected and we had a great battle.”

Scott says the Tigers and Bluejays were about as evenly matched as you can be on the court, trading wins with each game before ADM won it in the fifth.

“Bondurant… I mean they kept coming at us, and it was just two great teams battling it out for conference, and that’s how you want it to be.”

ADM has one more conference match remaining–next Tuesday against Carroll–and with a win, they’ll finish the conference season unbeaten.  However, the Tigers’ next action will come in an invitational tournament this Saturday in Knoxville.
