perryADM will play one of its biggest rivals on the schedule tonight in the form of the Perry Bluejays.

Led by junior quarterback Will Whiton, Perry went on the road and knocked off Atlantic 48-27 last week to snap a five game losing streak.

ADM has struggled to stop dual-threat quarterbacks this season, and Whiton will be the best pure athlete the Tigers face at the position all year.  Perry head coach Jason Olenjzack says Whiton is usually the best athlete on the field anytime he steps between the white lines.

“The first thing that jumps out at you is his speed, his raw speed.  But he can do more than that, he’s a real tough kid, he takes a lot of shots.  For not being very big, he keeps up and keeps playing, and his passing game has progressed quite a bit this year.  Definitely more of a dual-threat this year than he was last year.”

Whiton has thrown for over 800 yards this season and he’s also Perry’s leading rusher with over 600 yards on the ground. 145 of those rushing yards came last week against Atlantic, where he also ran for two touchdowns.

As for Perry’s overall team success, the Bluejays are yet another team on the Tigers’ slate that is much more talented than their 2-5 record would indicate, and Coach Olenjzack knows his team is better than that tally.

“We’ve put a pretty good product on the field, and we’ve just come up short.  A lot of that you can place it on a play or two in each game where we had an opportunity to make the play and we did not, and conversely on the other side of the field, Creston, Boone or whoever made the play.  All in all (though), the kids have played pretty well this year.”

Tonight’s game will kick-off at 7:30 on 107.9FM, KKRF.  Be sure to tune in at 7 o’clock though for the coach’s pregame show with ADM head coach Mike Whisner.
