The Greene County high school girls’ cross-country team won the four-team West Marshall meet in State Center on Thursday. The Rams had the top four finishers and scored 17 points. CMB (Maxwell) was second with 40 points, while the host WM team had 74, and Colo-NESCO scored 109.

Senior Allison Higgins won the four kilometers (2.48) miles race for girls in 16 minutes, 10 seconds. Junior Emily Christensen was second at 17:18 with freshman Olivia Hansen third at 17:19, and junior Eme Johnson fourth in 17:21. Junior Noelle Gray was seventh in 18:18.

CMB won the boys’ title with 38 points, followed by WM at 47, Greene County 62, and C-N 81.

The boys’ individual champion was Nathan Bradley of WM in a course record time of 16:59 for five kilometers (3.1 miles). Junior Landon Braun was the top finisher for the Rams. He was eighth in 18:39. Junior Logan Egeland was ninth in 19:00, followed by junior Tim Eischeid, eleventh in 19:21, Junior Abe Yoder was fifteenth in 19:50, and senior Karter Ruzicka was nineteenth in 20:33.

The regular season is over for the Greene County teams. Next up is the Oct. 24 State Qualifying meet near Panora at the Lake Panorama par three golf course.
