Even though ADM’s boys and girls cross country teams fell short in their attempts to qualify for state at last Thursday’s district meet in Winterset, they still put forth a showing that satisfied their coach.

David Zwank has talked continuously this season about having his runners peak at the right time, and he thinks they did.

“When I sat down and looked at times and compared over the course of the season… when you look at those times, they really did (peak) across the board.  We had one person that was dealing with a health issue so that’s the only discrepancy.  Everybody else had better times than any other meets… Yeah, I felt like they were really there to compete and that’s the purpose of running and training is preparing yourself for those big final meets and races.”

The season isn’t completely over for Zwank as he does still have two runners competing in the state meet this Saturday.   Josh Berger and Brianna Mueller both qualified individually last Thursday after finishing in the top 10 of the boys and girls races respectively.
