The ADM volleyball team is on to the regional semifinal in Newton after the Tigers knocked off Grinnell  last night in the first round of postseason play.

ADM swept the opposing Tigers three games to nil by scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 25-14.

Senior outside hitter Allison Gottschalk, a third-team all-state performer a year ago, showed what she’s capable of when healthy last night, leading the Tigers with 11 kills.  She was also 17-17 serving.

ADM libero Maddie Powers again set the tone defensively for the Tigers, collecting 19 digs.  She was effective in the service game as well, finishing 15-17.

The Tigers will now play at the Newton Cardinals on Thursday at 7pm.  The Cardinals are the 12th-ranked team in the Class 4-A rankings, and ADM split with them in the regular season.  The winner of Thursday’s rubber match will move on to likely face Waverly-Shell Rock in the regional final next Monday.
