change-your-clock-change-your-batteryA reminder to area residents, it’s daylight savings time this weekend so be sure to set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

While setting the clocks back certainly seems like a simple enough task to handle, Stuart Rescue Operations Director Jeff Howard sees daylight savings time as more than just that–it’s a reminder for local residents to care of some responsibilities they should be handling annually, especially with winter looming.

“Your first aid kits, make sure coming into winter that you have a first aid in your vehicle… really should have one in your vehicle year round.  Remember too, if you use something out of your first aid kit, don’t forget to replace it so the next time you need it, it will be there and ready for you.”

Aside from just resetting your clocks, Howard also reminds families to replace your smoke detectors or at least replace the batteries in them.

Howard adds that daylight savings time should be used as a way for local residents to start afresh with their preparation for the upcoming winter months.
