ADMThe ADM volleyball team’s season ended just a win shy of a state tournament berth for the second consecutive year, but that doesn’t mean the 2013 campaign wasn’t a huge success.

The Tigers were bounced in the regional final on Monday night by the formidable Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks, a team that head coach Mary Beth Scott says was simply too good.

“We certainly had hoped to come in and play Waverly-Shell Rock better.  The scores might not have shown it, but we fought, we did our best.  Waverly-Shell Rock, they were just an outstanding team, they were a well-balanced team.  They were a tough team all around, but we fought and we’re very proud of where we finished.”

Despite the year ending with a loss, as it does for everybody except for the state champions, Scott says her team accomplished their goals and more this season.  With the team’s motto being “finish it” all year long, Scott feels her players did just that.

“We talked about it a lot, and they finished it.  They kept their heads held high, they finished that match and they left a mark on this program… They’re very excited to have that 2013 put up on the conference (title) flag in the gym, and they’ll be able to remember that forever.”

ADM finished the season with an outstanding 25-13 overall record, and a number 14 ranking in Class 4-A.
