The Fall sports seasons at Greene County High School have been completed and Superintendent Tim Christensen termed them “Excellent” when asked his opinion by Raccoon Valley Radio. Greene County does not have an Activities Director this school year, so Christensen and others are absorbing those duties.

“Volleyball won their first round game and made it to the second round. The football team qualified for the playoffs, and the girls’ cross-country team made it to State cross-country, placed ninth as a team, and it was fantastic with Allison Higgins placing third; that’s just great!” he said.

The Rams went 15-17 in volleyball matches and 5-5 in football. The volleyball team tied for fifth place in the 10-team Heart of Iowa Activities Conference at 5-4. The football team was 4-2 in Class 2A District 8 and was the number two seed from the district. The girls’ cross-country squad was third in the HOIAC and league champion Gilbert was the Class 3A State Champions. The boys’ cross-country squad placed seventh in the conference.

Winter sports are next with girls’ basketball practice starting on Monday, Nov. 11. Monday, Nov. 18 is the first official practice date for boys’ winter sports in Iowa high schools.
