volleyballWhile the ADM volleyball team loses a lot of senior leadership from this year’s team, the future looks bright for head coach Mary Beth Scott’s Tigers.

Scott acknowledges that replacing her four seniors will be difficult, most notably her two top outside hitters in Torrie Hook and Allison Gottschalk.

“They’ve been our outsides for several years and it’s been really hard for people to compete for those positions, so that will really open up some changes for us.”

But sometimes change can be a good thing, as Scott loves the versatility that her returning players will provide.  Players like Abby Merschman, Brennan Hook, Kari Dufoe, Marissa Felt and Maddie Mikkelsen each gained valuable playing experience this season, and they will provide a solid foundation for Coach Scott to build around.

Scott says her returning players should be ready to play anywhere next season.

“It’s going to be interesting to see who steps into what roles.  We do have a lot of experience coming back, but it is going to be different to see who is going to be out there and who is going to be putting the ball down, so I’m excited for the challenge and the change.”

Scott adds that with so much of ADM’s offense predicated on their outside hitters, finding replacements for Hook and Gottschalk will be the single biggest key for next season.
