The original Greene County wrestling schedules showed the Rams opening the 2013-14 season in Jefferson on Tuesday, Dec. 3, but that has been changed due to basketball also being scheduled at home for that night. Greene County doesn’t currently have an Activities Director, but Superintendent of Schools Tim Christensen informed Raccoon Valley Radio on Monday that the non-conference double-dual wrestling meet with Ogden and Van Meter/Earlham will be in Ogden at 5:30 p.m. The Rams will have a busy first week of the season with a Thursday, Dec. 5 double-dual at Carroll High School vs. the Carroll Tigers and Winterset Huskies, and the Ram Dual Meet Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Jefferson at the middle school gym with Estherville-Lincoln Central, Norwalk, and South Central Calhoun (Lake City) at 10 a.m.

Greene County hosts Roland-Story (Story City) in Jefferson at the middle school gym on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in a girl/boy doubleheader. The games between the Norsemen and Rams will be the first of the conference schedule for the boys’  teams and they also will serve as the Rams’ boys’ basketball season opener under new head coach Jeramie Hinote. Coach Chad Morton’s girls’ basketball team opens the season on Nov. 26 in Jefferson at the middle school gym vs. Saydel (Des Moines).
