ADMThe ADM girls’ basketball team will open up its regular season at home in less than a week against Van Meter, and with expectations high for the year ahead, the Tigers have been hard at work in the first days of practice implementing “3-Mayhem-2.”

That might sound like an odd phrase, but for head coach Brett Watson, it is lingo that his girls’ understand and must now begin to execute.  Watson explains what that “3-Mayhem-2” entails.

“We want to wreak mayhem on our opponents for 32 minutes.  What that is, is we want to be in their face defensively, offensively, we want to push the ball… we want them to play at our pace, something that they’re not used to or comfortable with.  Like I said, we want to do that for 32 minutes regardless of what the score is or the time situation.”

In playing such an up-and-down style, Watson’s players have to be in great shape to sustain such a chaotic pace, and in the Tigers’ first few days of practice, conditioning has been a focal point as they prepare for next Tuesday’s opener.

Watson says his team will be implementing more of its half court offense in the days ahead to be sure there are options out of that “3-Mayhem-2” scheme.  The Tigers will be running a european ball-screen offense this season, with point guard and returning leading scorer Madi Bertman running the show.
