Practice began on Monday of this week for the Greene County High School boys’ basketball program. It marked the first time in more than a dozen years Mike McGinnis wasn’t the helm. The former head coach and his family moved to North Carolina last spring and former Greene County freshman coach Jeramie Hinote begins his first season heading the program. A former girls’ head coach at Southern Cal (Lake City), Hinote said he’s happy to be the boys’ head coach here. “I’m excited about it. It’s a passion of mine and I enjoy coaching basketball. Something I’ve always looked forward to is being a varsity boys’ basketball coach.”

Doug Meinecke returns as the JV coach and Tom Kennedy returns to coaching ninth grade boys after being the girls’ JV coach in recent seasons.

The Rams begin the season in the middle school gym in Jefferson on Tuesday, Dec. 3 by hosting Roland-Story (Story City).
