stuart cityThe Beautification Committee from Stuart’s Chamber of Commerce is asking for local residents to volunteer their time and even lights to help get Lawbaugh Park lit up for the holidays.

Audrey Wells tells Raccoon Valley Radio  she had been hoping to “Light the Park” this weekend in advance of Thanksgiving, but with the temperatures forecasted to be in the 20s that is unlikely to happen.

However, Wells says she and Jeff Schwartzkopf, who sets up the lights display each year, are hopeful of getting it set up sometime over the next couple weeks, but they will need help.

Wells adds that residents shouldn’t feel that volunteering their time is the only way to assist with “Light the Park.”

“Anyone that would like to bring a display to the park is sure welcome to.  In the past, we’ve had some churches that have put up nativity scenes and those are beautiful and we would love to have people like that come and bring their own if they want to.  There are some people that don’t do (lights) at home anymore, and if they want to bring it down to the park, we’d be glad to put it up for them.”

Any local residents who would like to help set up “Light the Park” are encouraged to email the Stuart Chamber of Commerce.
