The ADM Tigers girls basketball team moved to 1-1 on the season with a thrilling one-point victory over Van Meter in its home opener last night.

In what was a back-and-forth affair all game long, the Tigers eked out the 65-64 win due in large part to the standout performance of freshman Sydney Bertman, who hit the game-winner for the Tigers with just over 10 seconds remaining.

Bertman led ADM with 19 points, no two more important than the offensive rebound and putback at game’s end to give the Tigers their first win of the season.

Molly Jacobsen added 15 points for the Tigers and was 3-7 from three-point range.  While Bertman’s field goal was the difference on the scoreboard, it was Jacobsen’s ability to draw a charge on Van Meter star Katie Agey with just three second remaining that sealed ADM’s win.

Madi Bertman tallied 13 points for ADM and Brianna Mueller had 12 to make it four Tigers in double-figures for the night.

The Tigers will be back on the floor next Tuesday for a boys/girls doubleheader against rival Dallas Center-Grimes.
