ADMShe is just two games into her varsity basketball career for the ADM Tigers, but young freshman Sydney Bertman has been quick to impress.

Bertman was the true difference-maker in ADM’s second game as her 19 points helped lead the Tigers to a win over Van Meter earlier this week.

Head coach Brett Watson is excited about what his freshman brings to the table, and he comments on her standout performance in Tuesday’s win.

“I had a feeling she was going to have a good game.  Monday night she just couldn’t get into the flow of the game, got in foul trouble.  I thought she was going to have breakout game… did I think she was going to have 19 and 12 (rebounds)?  Absolutely not at all, but she is a very talented girl and we’ve seen glimpses of that in practice.  Now to see it in a game situation is unbelievable.”

Bertman also hit the game-winning bucket for ADM on Tuesday, as she corralled an offensive rebound off of a miss from her sister, Madi, and put it up and in to give the Tigers a 65-64 lead–one they would not relinquish.

Two games into the season, Sydney is ADM’s third-leading scorer behind her sister, Madi, and sophomore Brianna Mueller.
