ADM senior Jesse Bennett is headed to Australia this summer to compete with the 2014 International USA Track and Field Team.

Bennett has been selected by International Sports Specialists, Inc. (ISSI) to participate in Brisbane, Australia in the Down Under Sports Tournaments.  Bennett has been a top-flight performer in the shot put throughout his track and field career, and he ranked second in the Raccoon River Conference in the event last season.  His shot put throw of 50 feet at Harlan last season was the 12th best throw in Class 3-A.

ISSI hosts the annual Down Under Sports Tournaments, and their goal is “provide a forum for athletes from other countries to compete head to head in the sports they love.”

To help offset travel expenses to the land down under, Jesse and his parents will be holding fundraisers in the coming months.  Anyone who sponsors an athlete competing in the Down Under Sports Tournaments is eligible to be entered into a drawing to win an all-inclusive trip for two to Australia and Hawaii and/or a 5-day cruise.  All entries must be received by ISSI no later than June 1st of next year.
