basketball thru hoopHead coach Brett Watson will trot out his ADM girls basketball team for the third time this season against a heated rival tomorrow night: the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs.

The Tigers lost both of their matchups with DC-G a season ago, and expect this year’s Mustangs team to be an even more difficult test.  DC-G will enter tomorrow’s contest in Adel as the 4th-ranked team in Class 4-A, thanks in large part to its 17-6 overall record in the 2012-13 campaign.

The Mustangs won their season opener against Carlisle by a blowout score of 62-27, and Coach Watson knows they’re good.

“DC-G is going to be very athletic, they’re deep.  Obviously they’re well-coached year in and year out, and we have to shore up (the defense)… we’ve got to make them earn everything that they get.”

One way Watson will look to counter DC-G’s depth is with some depth of his own.  Through the first two games for ADM, he has used an eight-player rotation, and that could swell to nine tomorrow night.  If Gabby Glenn is healthy enough to play, her offensive capabilities will provide the Tigers with a nice scoring punch off the bench.
