ADMADM basketball will have its first girls/boys varsity doubleheader of the season tonight against rival Dallas Center-Grimes, and both games should be great tests for the Tigers.

ADM’s girls team, led by head coach Brett Watson, will tip-off at 6pm against the Lady Mustangs, ranked 4th in Class 4-A.  The visitors tonight will be led by senior Dani Heritage, who led DC-G in scoring a year ago, averaging just over 12 points per game on 42% field goal shooting.

The Lady Mustangs are 1-0 so far this season, as they blitzed Carlisle 62-27 in their opener.  Heritage led all scorers with 17 points in that contest.

Over on the boys’ side of things, head coach Aaron Mager and company will be playing their first game of the 2013-14 campaign tonight, and the Tigers couldn’t have asked for a more difficult opponent to begin their season.

DC-G qualified for the state tournament in Class 3-A a season ago, and ended the year with an impressive 22-3 record.  The Mustangs return four of their top seven rotation players from last season’s team, including leading scorer Nick Drucker who averaged over 11 points per game.

We’ll see if the likes of Logan Essy and Grant Goeden can set the pace early for ADM as the Tigers look to start the season with a win, and take the proper steps toward improving on their 3-19 record from a year ago.

After the Tigers had the opportunity to scrimmage the likes of Carroll Kuemper and West Des Moines Valley this past Saturday, Coach Mager says his team’s biggest key tonight will be handling the pressure that DC-G should bring defensively.

Coverage of the ADM girls begins with pregame at 5:45 tonight on 107.9FM, KKRF.  The boys will tip-off 15 minutes following the conclusion of the girls’ contest.
